Leaders gather to consider the future of place

16 November 2009

Sir Bob Kerslake is one of a number of prominent speakers that will address leaders at an annual conference in London on 27th November.

Our annual Leaders Network conference will provide delegates with details of the 2010 events programme structured around:

  • Partnerships
  • Funding
  • Delivery
  • Sustainability.

Brokering better partnerships, the innovative use of funding and maintaining quality and design in a recession will also be explored.

Colonel Felix Gedney (OBE) from the Ministry of Defence will talk about the difficulties of rebuilding communities in Iraq. Chief executive of the Cathedral Group Plc, Richard Upton, and Chris Bovis, director of corporate governance at Keepmoat PLC, will also speak at the event.

Sir Bob Kerslake said: “Traditional models for providing new and affordable homes and reviving deprived places are struggling. Budgets are under pressure and skills and experience are in danger of being lost.

“In the midst of this turbulence leaders must work together to develop a shared vision for communities, build wider partnerships, share innovative practice and lead by example. This conference will encourage a debate on the barriers to the effective delivery of housing and regeneration.”

The Leaders Network is a peer group for current and emerging leaders of place. The forum generates insights, debates and practical responses to issues crucial to creating better places.

Current members and anyone keen to join the network are invited to attend the conference. Places are limited so please register your interest in advance by contacting Andy Wakefield, 0207 007 1552 / leaders.network@hca.gsx.gov.uk

The event is free for members but a rate of £250 for non-members will apply.
